Human Resources Strategy for Researchers - HRS4R @ CERTH

It is commonly accepted that CERTH´s constant development and its continuous success are mainly due to the highly specialized scientific personnel who guarantees a prosperous future for our Centre. CERTH, in its effort for optimum utilization of its human resources, regards as highly important the establishment of a favourable environment that would allow its researchers to focus undistracted on their research activities. For this reason, CERTH has laid an action plan aiming at further improving its working environment.

The action plan was prompted by the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The “Charter and Code” (C&C) is a set of forty general principles and requirements which specify the rights and responsibilities of researchers and their employers and put transparency rules during the recruitments process. Specifically, The European Charter for Researchers specifies the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of researchers as well as of employers while the Code of Conduct sets principles and requirements in order to ensure observance of values such as transparency of the recruitment process and equal treatment of all applicants.

Since 2008, CERTH has been among the first Greek research organisations that have undersigned the principles of the “Charter & Code” and it is the only Greek research organisation acknowledged by the E.C. as organisation that respects the principles of the C&C by drafting an action plan so as to incorporate them in its working procedures.

The action plan was shaped after an analysis of the internal procedures which was based on feedback received from researchers of all grades and categories. This way, CERTH aims at the constant improvement of its working environment and its adaptation to the changing circumstances. In order to achieve this aim, CERTH’s intention is to repeat similar internal evaluations that will keep the action plan updated.
